Nourish your whole self.

Why Choose Us?

Sure, a balanced diet is important — we certainly need a range of foods and nutrients to be healthy.

But at Foodwise Nutrition, a balanced person is what we aim to achieve. This requires balancing your physical with your psychological wellbeing. It requires balancing your nutrition needs for one medical condition with the needs of other conditions—without feeling like you’re suffering.

Our Approach

Our nutritionists balance gentle encouragement with firm support. You’ll look ahead toward your goals while appreciating the progress you are making, changing your thoughts and behaviors day-by-day.

How many times have you started a diet only to feel like you couldn’t maintain it forever? That you were bored with the options? That all you could think about was eating, simply because you knew you had to watch what you put in your mouth? This is not living! Dietary changes shouldn’t be all or nothing, black or white. You need to enjoy what you eat or you won’t maintain the changes you’ve made—and what good would that be?

Dietary change is not all-or-nothing

Obtain practical strategies for daily living

Diabetic? We’ll show you how to include even your favorite foods in your carb plan. Living with Celiac disease or gluten sensitivity? We’ll guide you to modify recipes and direct you to gluten free resources. Struggling with managing your weight or your relationship with food? We’ll teach you practical strategies to regain control of your eating—and your health. Even if you believe that you are different—that balance isn’t possible. Living with food allergies? We’ll help you find agreeable substitutions, to focus on what you can have, not just what you need to avoid.

Deprivation is not the answer

Regardless of your health concerns, deprivation is not the answer. We believe that all foods have a place in your diet. Yes all. A healthy diet meets your needs on many levels—nutritionally, medically, and psychologically. You should not feel deprived, believing that today is your last chance to eat your favorite foods. Yes, even cupcakes.

I'm a relatively healthy guy but have always had a sweet tooth and a bad habit of ordering take-out late at night. Eventually it caught up in the form of a high A1C test result. Luckily for me, I started consultations with Stephanie Chen, RD, LDN. Stephanie is a total professional, knowledgeable, and brings a thoughtful, holistic approach to my relationship with food, health, and wellness.

Stephanie does a great job of tempering my extreme quick-fix machinations - promoting sustainable dietary routines instead of forgoing life’s culinary joys altogether (like protein pancakes with peanut-butter instead of regular ones with sugary syrup and low-carb beer and wine over high-carb ones) - and she always has healthy options ready whenever I need ideas for a snack before lunch at work.

I used to buy pants with a little extra room (size 36) just in case my bad diet made my stomach/waist fluctuate but ever since I’ve been working with Stephanie, those size 36 pants have been getting roomier and I’m a consistent size 34 now. Thanks to her, my A1C is down and my plates are more colorful and balanced, favor protein and greens more than carbs, and sustain me so my last meal is by 7 pm. Stephanie makes talking about what you eat fun.

Beth has been very helpful with helping my husband (and I) navigate a new diagnosis which requires dietary guidance.

I am grateful that the appointment did not need to be canceled during the blizzard with the help of Zoom. Follow up appointments are very manageable through Zoom as well.

I’ve been working with Tori for about a year, and I’ve had a truly great experience. She is a fantastic clinician with deep knowledge and a thoughtful, evidence-based approach. Tori listens carefully and always does her best to create strategies that are realistic and focused on long-term weight loss, not quick fixes. She has been an invaluable part of my journey, and while I’m very happy with my results so far, I’m confident she’ll continue to support me just as effectively during my weight-maintenance phase. I highly recommend working with her.

I can’t recommend my nutritionist enough. Through Intuitive Eating, she helped me quiet constant food thoughts and develop a much more positive body image. I now feel calm, confident, and at peace around food for the first time in years. Sharon truly changed my life!
